The Empathic Therapist

Your wellbeing matters - take the first step towards positive change

Welcome to The Empathic Therapist

I'm Lynn Guthrie, a registered BACP counsellor offering grief and bereavement counselling in Stirling, as well as online counselling across the UK and internationally. I also support people experiencing anxiety, emotional overwhelm, life changes and other challenges that can leave life feeling difficult to navigate.

Whether you're grieving the death of someone you love, the end of a relationship, the loss of your health, your identity, or the life you once imagined, counselling can offer a confidential space where you can begin to make sense of your experience.

Alongside grief counselling, I work with people experiencing anxiety, low mood, stress, relationship difficulties and significant life changes. Whatever has brought you here, our work together provides a calm, compassionate space where you can talk openly, without judgement, and at a pace that feels right for you.

How Counselling Can Help

Grief, anxiety and significant life changes can leave you feeling overwhelmed, disconnected or unsure of who you are anymore. Counselling offers a calm, supportive space where you can begin to make sense of what's happening, without pressure or expectation.

My Areas of Expertise

My work supports adults through a range of life experiences, including mental health difficulties, grief, loss, and periods of significant change. I have a particular focus on grief and bereavement, including the loss of a loved one, relationship endings, and the many identity shifts that can follow.

Alongside professional training, I bring both professional and personal understanding to this work. I also have experience supporting survivors of domestic abuse and individuals living with eating disorders, always working with care, sensitivity, and respect for each person’s story.

What To Expect

Counselling with me is collaborative and person-centred, shaped around your needs and what feels most important for you. There’s no set agenda and no pressure to talk about anything before you’re ready. I offer online counselling sessions via Zoom for adults across the UK and internationally, as well as in-person sessions in Stirling city centre, providing a calm, supportive space where you can speak openly and be met with care, respect, and understanding.

How I Work

My work is shaped around you — your pace, your needs, and what feels right in each session. I work collaboratively and with care, offering a calm and supportive space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings in your own way. Where it feels helpful, I may gently draw on different ways of working to support reflection and understanding, always guided by what feels safe and appropriate for you. The relationship comes first, and everything else grows from there.

Wellness At Work

I also offer counselling support for workplaces, with a focus on employee wellbeing, stress, and mental health. This support is designed to offer employees a confidential space to talk, reflect, and feel supported — both within the workplace and beyond it.

If you’re an organisation looking to support staff wellbeing in a thoughtful and compassionate way, workplace counselling options can be explored separately.

Blog

Many people like to find out a little more before getting in touch. My articles explore grief, emotional wellbeing, and life's many changes.
